Student Enterprise Awards Rules

These rules apply to both County and National Finals. There are three categories in the awards scheme:

  • Senior: Transition Year, 4th, 5th and 6th year students plus participating youth projects such as Youthreach

  • Intermediate: 2nd and 3rd year students

  • Junior: 1st year students

Within these categories there is an opportunity for individual entry by students who may for instance be home schooled or indeed a student who has developed a business. Each Student Enterprise Awards business must be presented at the Finals by a maximum of 5 students.

Participants must have:

  • Students must have had at least one visit from the Student Enterprise Co-Ordinator.
  • Operated a real business.
  • Submitted 5 copies of their business report (following the required format and with a maximum of 20 single sided or 10 double sided pages) by the designated date.
  • Set-up a business display at the awards venue by the designated time. The display must be confined to a floor area of 1.5 metres x 1.5 metres.

Marks will only be awarded for work undertaken in the current academic year. Failure to comply with the above will result in disqualification so please follow the rules!

Entries will be judged in three key areas:

  • the written business report

  • the business display and

  • the interview.

Each participating City/County Enterprise Board may nominate one entry per category to participate in the Student Enterprise Awards National Final.

The decision of the judging panels will be final.

While these are rules and most certainly apply to everybody they still allow for a lot of fun, excitement and challenge to every participant and guarantee fairness to everybody.
